7th meeting of the advisory board of the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt

The Advisory Board of the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt held its 7th meeting on March 17, 2022. The meeting was held again as a video conference due to the ongoing Corona situation.

After KBA had reported on important current topics, among other things, the following agenda items were dealt with.

Reports were given on the current status of the regulation on autonomous driving, in particular the ap-proval procedure at KBA, and on the results of the individual working groups.

Recalls in connection with assistance systems as well as the specifics of the steadily increasing digitiza-tion were presented and discussed.

KBA presented the judgment of the European Court of Justice thus far and reported on the judg-ment C-128/20 expected to be announced shortly.

KBA reported on the status and innovations of the test laboratory in Harrislee and the test facility in Leck. The Advisory Board praised the developments and noted the high technical standard of the test infrastructure.

The status of the preparation of the Market Surveillance Report 2021, which also takes into account the suggestions of the Advisory Board, was presented by KBA. The good exchange between KBA and the Advisory Board in the context of the further development of the report was emphasized by the Advisory Board.

KBA informed the Advisory Council about the still considerable number of incoming inquiries from citizens and courts in connection with emissions from diesel engines and the project group set up to deal with them, as well as further measures.

The increasement of consumer protection, including the form of the owner letters for a presentation of the respective situation was discussed.

Finally, the topic of On-Board Fuel Consumption Monitoring (OBFCM) was discussed with the participa-tion of a guest speaker from the BMUV.
