As approval authority, the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) makes a significant contribution to road safety and to reducing the environmental impact of pollutant and noise emissions by granting Type Approvals for vehicles and vehicle parts.

Under vehicle registration, you can find more about the exchange of information on granted approvals and permits (type sheets) between officially recognized monitoring organizations under § 29 of the Road Traffic Registration Order (StVZO), other EU Type Approval authorities and KBA.
You’ll also find information on the KBA’s assessment of the safety and quality management systems of companies, who are responsible for the production of driver and vehicle documents (e.g. registration certificates or driving license cards).
