Driver Fitness Assessment System
The Driver Fitness Assessment System guarantees equal treatment of all persons who have attracted attention in road traffic by means of a nationwide uniform catalogue of measures and points. It gives every citizen the opportunity to continuously monitor the extent of his or her own misconduct and to correct it in time. Through the possibility of voluntary participation in a driving aptitude seminar, conspicuous road users can avoid reaching 8 points and thus the withdrawal of their driving licence. The seminar helps those affected to recognise and reduce their deficiencies in their attitude to road traffic. The Driver Fitness Assessment System is thus an important instrument for improving road safety.
All final decisions entered in the Register of Driver Fitness are scored
- for administrative offences, insofar as they are listed in Annex 13 to § 40 of the Driving Licence Ordinance (FeV) and a fine of at least 60 euros has been imposed or a driving ban has been imposed, and
- offences listed in Annex 13 to § 40 of the Driving Licence Ordinance (FeV).
These are offences that impair road safety.
The offences entered in the FAER are assessed with one to three points according to the Driver Fitness Assessment System.
Offences with a driving licence revocation or with an isolated ban period, which are named in Annex 13 to § 40 FeV, are assessed with three points. Two points are awarded for the other offences listed in Appendix 13.
The administrative offences named in Annex 13 to § 40 FeV as particularly impairing traffic safety are assessed with two points. The administrative offences listed as impairing traffic safety are assessed with one point.
