The tachograph is operated via four different tachograph cards:
It is used to identify the driver and records the driving and rest times for 28 driving days each.
It is used for testing, calibrating and programming the tachograph to the vehicle data or downloading the tachograph data.
The entrepreneur shall ensure that at the beginning and at the end of the use of the vehicle for the enterprise, the company card is entered into the journey voucher in order to assign the use of the vehicle to the enterprise. It enables the display, transmission and printout of data contained in the journey voucher of the company vehicles for the disposition of the vehicle fleet and during company inspections.
The control card is used to check driving and rest times by control authorities (police, occupational health and safety authorities, Bundesamt für Güterverkehr).
