Tachograph - General Information

The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt KBA is responsible for the following tasks in connection with the introduction of the tachograph:

• Maintenance of the Register of Tachograph Cards (FKR) on all issued cards as well as the connection with the registers of the other EU/EEA states via TACHOnet.
• independent national certification authority for cryptographic keys and certificates
• Personalisation of tachograph cards
• issuing of type approvals
• Security checks of the manufacturers of vehicle units and motion sensors, smart cards, the national certification body and the personalisation body.
